Remember when software ate the world? Well, we invited Jonathan Moss on the show to discuss if AI is really eating software.
He’s EVP of Growth & GTM, and leads AI at Experity. Together we discuss how moats are changing, companies being disrupted and much more.
A few takeaways from the episode:
AI will start working for you in software: Rather than you creating a dashboard, a workflow or something else — AI can start doing the work for you using agents.
One notable company has already been disrupted: Chegg. A company in online tutoring has suffered immensely since the introduction of ChatGPT.
Will AI eat people too? Harvard tested if AI could replace CEOs, and found for the most part, that the day-to-day tasks could be replaced. But when the market changes or something unforeseen happens? It struggles.
Workflows will be a core component of future moats (unless the workflow changes of course). How embedded a solution is into a workflow defines how difficult it is to rip out.
No matter what, there will always be a need for someone who deeply understands go-to-market — AI cannot replace this entirely.
